The 2013 East Asian Games, officially known as the VI East Asian Games, is an international multi-sport event that will take place in Tianjin, China, between 6 October and 15 October, 2013. This is the first time since 2005 that gymnastics was contested in the East Asian Games, having been left out of the program in 2009.

Format of Competition

The competition format was the same as at the Olympics. All participating gymnasts, including those who were not part of a team, participated in a qualification round. The qualification round also served as:

  • The team competition. Each team of six gymnasts could only have three gymnasts perform on each apparatus, and all three scores counted toward the team total.
  • The all-around competition. Each country was limited to only two gymnasts in the all-around final.

The results of this competition determined which individuals participated in the remaining competitions:

  • The event finals, in which the eight highest scoring individuals on each apparatus competed. Each country was limited to two gymnasts in each apparatus final.
