The 2017-2020 women's artistic Code of Points has been approved and published on the FIG website. It's available here. These Code of Points will not be in effect until January 1, 2017.

    • BIG CHANGE: The composition requirement for a D+ dismount is now gone, which also means that every vault has been devalued. However, dismounts still count as elements towards the D score itself.

    • When two vaults are competed, they must have both a different entry and a different flight phase.

    1st VT 2nd VT Acceptable

handspring front straight salto with 1½ twist
handspring double front salto tucked NO
both vaults have the same entry - front handspring

    straight Yurchenko with double twist
Tsukahara straight with double twist NO
both vaults have the same flight phase…

With the Test Event over, the list of qualified teams and individuals is much clearer. The countries that qualified full teams are all set to proceed with their respective team trials process, while the remaining four countries who didn't qualify full teams at the Test Event have to decide who will get the lone Olympic spot. The nations who sent two gymnasts to the Test Event will also have to choose one athlete for their Olympic spot.

ONE IMPORTANT NOTE: Despite confirmation from each of the athletes' respective federations, none of them will be considered Olympians until their names appear on the start lists for qualifications. Each federation has until midnight after podium training to make changes.

1996 TF (for me, it's the start of US emphasis on winning TF) 2012 TF (at end of 2nd rotation when Russia nearly neutralized US vt advantage. The cliffhanger that lasted so briefly...) 2012 AA (FX rotation. Seeing Komova going all out to catch Gabby, even though I think she probably knows deep down that it would be nearly impossible)

    2015 Fantasy Gym

    January 2, 2015 by Candycoateddoom

Who's doing Fantasy Gym this year? Post your lineup.

I actually got three people from my original draft (Pinches, Macadaeg, and Colussi-Pelaez), but this is my first year doing Fantasy Gym so I know I'm gonna suck big time. I already did research on everyone's competition history and most of them have none, meaning they're probably freshmen.

With Worlds over, there's already some talk about the American Cup. It'll be on March 7, but people are already speculating who will be in the lineup and who won't. Since the American Cup was added to the FIG's World Cup series in 2011, the way it works is that the USA extends invitations to the top eight finishers in the all-around at the previous World Championships. Some countries will declines these invitations, and when that happens, they go down the list of the twenty-four competitors until about eighteenth place, then they start allowing other people to compete.

It's a no brainer that Simone and Kyla will be the two Americans offered spots in the lineup, however the American Cup lineup established in January is never final. People al…

Took one from Uncle Tim Talk's Men's Gym and another from thecambridgeprince and put them together for more fun. And one suggestion from obsessedingymnastics.

    1 shot

    • Every vignette/fluff piece on the Fierce Five
    • Every mention of Marta
    • Every time they mention the retirement of the veterans
    • Every time they mention the team gold medal and the US’ "crushing defeat" over Russia
    • Every blue leotard, and cheer because they're not wearing pink
    • When Tim says, "And this, THIS is the vault she fell on in London," when talking about McKayla's second vault.
      • Finish your drink if they show the footage of her VT EF fall afterwards
    • Every time Tim calls a skill by the wrong name (i.e., calling a Van Leeuwen a Khorkina, or a Maloney a Shaposh). Also yell "IT WAS A DEL…

This blog is just to have a guess at who might qualify or win medals in the apparatus finals.  I will update the blog over time as teams are announced and confirmed.  A lot of these will probs be based on the World Team Predictions forum blog by Candycoateddoom.

Please add if you can, I've changed settings and all that.

The information in this blog is courtesy of Gymnast #391 on Blogspot.

The 2013-2016 WAG CoP has been accepted. The women's code can be found here. Even though the CoP has been approved by FIG I think there will be some changes from the provisional one. There is probably another different provisional CoP that all gym fans cannot view. I'm looking forward to the new finalized CoP.

I'm just going to share what I found interesting about the new rules. Most of these stuff are already known so I'm probably going to bore some of you.

This is new, (DVT1 + DVT2) + 10.00 - (VT1 ex deductions + VT2 ex deductions) =Final score. This would mean that Maroney's '12 VT EF would have not medal in London.

Many difficult vaults have been downgraded. The Amanar t…
