Catherine Lyons (born August 30 in England) is a junior elite British gymnast. She's known for her flexibility on balance beam and her elegant dance on floor exercise.

Junior Career

2012

She won the British Espoir Championships in 2012 and later won the team final and balance beam at the UK School Games. She also placed third in the all-around at the Coupe Avenir.

2013

In 2013, she placed second with the team and fourth on beam and floor at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival. At the British Espoir Championships in March, she took first on floor, second in the all-around, third on uneven bars, and fifth on balance beam. In August, she was announced as a competitor at the Japan Junior International, alongside compatriot Georgia-Mae Fenton.

In September, she swept the UK School Games. Later, at the Japan Junior International, she placed fourth on beam, sixth on bars, seventh on floor, and eighth in the all-around. In December, she swept the British Espoir Championships.

2014

In early February, footage surfaced of Lyons training a Def on uneven bars.[1] In March, she competed in her first Junior English Championships, winning gold on beam and floor (tied with Amy Tinkler), silver in the all-around, and placing fourth on vault, and eighth on beam. She didn't quite have her best competition at the British Championships, as she had some falls. But she still managed to win gold on floor (again tied with Tinkler), silver on beam, and bronze in the all-around and on vault. In April, she competed at a junior friendly meet against gymnasts from Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and Spain, winning team silver and tying for fifteenth in the all-around with Italy's Pilar Rubagotti.

Lyons becomes a senior elite gymnast in 2016, just in time for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
