Laura Ruiz Martinez (born August 1, 1984 in Barcelona) is a retired Spanish gymnast. She competed at the 1999 World Championships and 2000 Olympics.
Career
1999
Martinez competed with the Spanish team at the World Championships in Tianjin, China. The Spanish team placed seventh, outside the top six in the team, which did not automatically qualify the team to the Olympics in Sydney. Individually, Martinez placed 20th in the all-around, tied for seventh on vault, and eighth on balance beam
2000
In February, Martinez competed at the American Cup. She placed third in the all-around and on vault and second on balance beam.
In Sydney, her scores contributed to the Spanish team qualifying for the team final. She also qualified for the all-around and vault event final. The Spanish team finished 4th in the team final, placing ahead of Ukraine. Individually, Martinez placed 12th in the all-around and 5th on vault.
2001
Martinez continued to compete after Sydney. She competed at the American Cup, where she won the uneven bars and floor exercise, and placed second in the all-around and third on vault.
