Mackenzie Slee (born July 7 in Lower Hutt) is an elite gymnast from New Zealand. She currently resides in Christchurch and trains at Christchurch School of Gymnastics under Svetlana Sazonova.
Slee made her international debut at the Perth International, winning team and vault gold, and placing eleventh on floor, twelfth on bars, and fifteenth in the all-around. She went on to compete at the Australian Nationals, winning bronze on vault and placing fourth with her team and eighth in the all-around. She rounded out the year winning bronze in the all-around at the KSI Cup.
Slee made her senior debut at the International Gymnix in Canada, placing tenth on floor and twenty-seventh in the all-around. She placed fifth in the all-around at the Australian Nationals, and was named to the New Zealand team for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
At the Commonwealth Games, New Zealand was already in trouble after losing an athlete to injury. Slee performed well on uneven bars in the first rotation, but ran into problems later. In warm-ups for vault, Slee became injured, but pushed through in competition, performing two vaults. She withdrew from the second day of team competition and did not make the event finals. New Zealand placed twelfth in the team final. Slee recovered in time to be named to the New Zealand team for the World Championships in Nanning, China. Unfortunately, the team did not place in the top 24 in qualifications and did not qualify a full team to the next World Championships.
Slee returned to competition at the Pacific Rim Championships in April, helping the New Zealand team place fifth. Although she did not qualify to the Olympics, she continued to compete afterwards, sweeping the New Zealand Championships in late September.
