Sofia Busato (born September 4 in Como, Lombardy) is a junior elite Italian gymnast. She represented Italy at the 2014 European Championships and Junior Mediterranean Championships.
Career
2013-2014
Busato made her international debut at the 2013 City of Jesolo Trophy, winning team gold and placing eighth in the all-around. In 2014, she won team gold at the 1st Serie A Nationale. She returned to the City of Jesolo Trophy to win team bronze and place fifth on vault and floor and tenth in the all-around. She won another team gold at the 2nd Serie A Nationale, and went on to win team bronze and place seventh in the all-around at the Munich Friendly. After winning team silver at the 3rd Serie A Nationale, she was named to the junior Italian team for the European Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria. There, she placed fifth with her team and on vault and seventeenth in the all-around.
Later, Busato competed at the Junior Mediterranean Championships, winning all-around, vault, and floor exercise gold, and uneven bars silver. At the Golden League competition, she won team gold, floor exercise bronze, and placed fifth in the all-around.
2015
Busato won team gold at the first two Serie A Nationale competitions in February. She missed the 3rd Serie A, but won team gold at the 4th Serie A in May.
Busato becomes a senior elite gymnast in 2016, just in time for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
