Michelle Dusserre-Farrell (born December 26 in Garden Grove, CA) was an American artistic gymnast who represented the United States at the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Career
Dusserre began gymnastics at the age of four years old. She made her elite debut in 1982 as a junior elite. That year she won the Junior American Classic and won the balance beam title at Junior U.S. National Championships.
Dusserre made her senior elite debut in 1983. She placed 5th in the all-around at the American Classic and 10th in the all-around at National Championships. In 1983 Dusserre was an alternate on the U.S. World Championships Team. Dusserre made the 1984 Olympic Team, where she was the youngest member. She helped the team to a silver medal in the team competition but did not advance to any individual finals.
In 1985 Dusserre suffered an elbow injury which kept her out the season. In 1986 after a tough comeback from her injury she failed to make the National Team after placing 24th in the all-around at National Championships but decided to continue with gymnastics. The next year, after significant upgrades, she earned a bronze medal on uneven bars at the U.S. National Championships as well as placing 12th in the all-around. She regained her spot on the National Team but following the 1987 National Championships, Dusserre retired from elite gymnastics.
Post-Retirement
Following retirement, Dusserre attended Arizona State University, followed by the University of Colorado for her Masters degree. She became a registered dietitian. Dusserre served as an athlete representitive for USAG and the USOC throughout the 90s. She has also assisted with TOPS camps.
Dusserre married Matt Farrell, who works with USA Swimming. The couple has two daughters, Abby and Zoe.
