Valentine Sabatou (born September 8 in Mont de Marsan) is a retired French elite gymnast. She trained at INSEP (Paris) alongside 2012 Olympians Mira Boumejmajen, Anne Kuhm, and Youna Dufournet, and was the 2013 French National Champion.

Her club is Elan Gymnique Rouennais, the same as Anne Kuhm, Mira Boumejmajen, and Youna Dufournet.

Career

2012

Sabatou made her senior debut in 2012, at the Doha World Cup, where she placed eighth on floor exercise. She was named to the French team for the European Championships, where they placed fifth. Afterwards, she was made an alternate to the French team for the Olympics.

2013

Sabatou started 2013 by becoming French National Champion. She also placed fourth on beam, and fifth on bars and with her team. She competed at the Mediterranean Games, winning silver with her team and on floor exercise, and bronze in the all-around. In August, she was named as one of two athletes to represent France at the World Championships (the other being teammate Mira Boumejmajen). In September, she placed seventh on floor exercise at the Osijek World Cup. Unfortunately, at the World Championships, she did not make the all-around or any event finals.

Following the World Championships, she was named to the French team for the Élite Gym Massilia in November. In the Master Team division, the French team won the uneven bars, placed third on beam and floor, fourth in the all-around, and eighth on vault. Individually, she placed fifth on floor and twenty-fifth in the all-around. She qualified for the Top Massilia, placing sixth on floor. Later, she competed at the French National Cup, placing fourth.

2014

In April, Sabatou competed at the French Nationals, winning gold with her team, silver on balance beam, and bronze in the all-around. She competed in a friendly meet against gymnasts from Belgium and Romania, winning team silver. She participated in the European Championships and finished 12th with the team of France.

Sabatou retired in October 2015.[1]
