Yuko Shintake (Japanese: 新竹 優子, born April 20, 1991) is a retired Japanese gymnast. She is a 2008 and 2012 Olympian and trains at Hagoromo Gymnastics Club.
Career
Shintake was a member of the Japanese team at the 2008 Olympics. The team placed fifth in the team finals, but Shintake did not place high enough to qualify for the all-around.
In 2009, Shintake represented Japan at the 2009 World Championships in London, but again did not place high enough to qualify for the all-around. She placed fifth in the all-around at the 2010 Japanese Nationals. She also was on Japanese team at the World Championships in Rotterdam and Tokyo, where the team placed fifth and seventh, respectively.
In June 2012, Shintake placed sixth in the all-around at the Japanese Nationals. She was named to the Japanese team for the Olympic Games. The Japanese team placed eighth in the team final.
Shintake continued to compete after the Olympics, placing fourteenth in the all-around at the Japanese Nationals in May 2013. She went on to place twelfth in the all-around at the NHK Cup in early June. She also competed at the East Asian Games in October, taking home two silver medals: team and balance beam. She also placed seventh on uneven bars.
